Category: Random Thoughts

It’s been a while since I have posted anything but it’s for a good reason.  As I said in a previous post, I have a new website that is geared to my Author platform.

For those who have not subscribed to my new website, please go to the above link and do so.  My first book is now on available for electronic purchase for ONLY $2.99!!!  I’m so excited about this milestone.  It has been a long and rough (the editing part for sure) road.  That is the reason I haven’t done much reading, movie or travel reviews.  I do want to continue to do the reviews but my writing is taking up a lot of my time.

Here’s the link to purchase my book:

I hope you enjoy the book and please leave a review on Amazon after you have finished.  The more reviews (good ones, of course) the better!!!  Happy reading!

Come by my new author website. Follow my journey of self-publishing and eventually my published books.

Subscribe and you will get updates on my books when they become available for purchase.
Thank you for following my personal blog and I hope to see you as a follower on my professional website.

Official Author Website!!!

For awhile now, I have been writing books.  None has been published yet, but I am very close to self-publishing my first book.  With that being said, I have set up an official website just for me as an author.  No reviews, just me writing about me and my experiences writing books.  Eventually, the website will have my books that have been published as well.

But for right now, it is my experiences of self publishing and just my life in general.  So, I might not be posting very much on this page.  So I am inviting you as my subscribers to follow me on my Official Author website.

I am hoping to have my first book self published on e-books (Amazon more than likely) by the end of 2014 or first part of 2015.

If you enjoy my writing, check out the above website and subscribe.  Hopefully sooner rather than later, you will see a post on that website stating my first book is PUBLISHED!  Soon…..  I hope.

Thank you for being a subscriber to this page and I hope to see you on my official page.  There might be times I do post to this page on books I have read or places I travel, so be looking for those updates as well.

Thank You Again!!!

So, my family is taking a road trip soon and I have been wracking my brain on what to do and what to bring.  I don’t want it to be a trip where the driver just drives and the passengers have their heads stuck in iPod’s, iPad’s, DVD players, etc…  A road trip is supposed to be about bonding right?  So I have been logging in serious man hours planning an itenerary and mapping out the drive.  Fun things to do and sights to see on a road trip can make it or break it.  So, I searched the internet for interesting sights along our way.  I’m hoping I found a few and hopefully will find more once we are under-way.  So here is a question?  What are some things that are “MUST” haves on a road trip?  Here are a few of mine:

  1. iPhone-not just for phone calls, I use it for mapping out the trip
  2. Camera
  3. Binoculars-for the crazy shape that I absolutely believe is Big Foot.
  4. Snacks
  5. Drinks
  6. Blanket & pillow-for when I get tired of looking for Big Foot.
  7. Portable DVD Player-so I can keep my kiddo busy when he gets the urge to ask “Are we there yet” (Only in case of emergency)

Comment below and give me suggestions on what to do and what to bring.  I just might have to add it to my own list.

As we come into the beginning of Mother’s Day weekend, I’d like to tell all of you who do not know…

Yes, the truth is out all yee nay sayers…  A true mother is super human.  I’m not talking about a person who just gives birth, I’m talking about the true mother’s who are there through the good, the bad, and the ugly!  The mother’s who stay awake to make sure their kids are safe and sound in bed before they themselves fall asleep.  The one’s who kiss the boo-boos even if it is just a scratch.  The one who sacrifices happily just so their kids can experience life to the fullest.  Those are the mother’s I’m talking about.  So, to make my point even further, here is a list.  Remember, this is not a complete list.  There is so much more to say but, well, there is only so many hours in the day to list them all.

  • Mom’s don’t have to have a full night sleep to be able to get up in the morning, get the kids ready, the husband off and still  be able to function throughout the day with a smile
  • Mom’s can juggle more than 1 thing in the car-the phone ringing, the baby needing to be fed, the toddler screaming in the back seat-all while driving down the road
  • Mom’s day does not end with kissing the kids to sleep-there is still laundry to be folded, dishes to be done, clothes to be picked out for school, homework to be signed, cookies to be baked for school party, etc…
  • Mom’s can cook 3 meals for 3 people within one night (laughing because I’ve had to do this ~giggle~)
  • Even when a mom is sick, she still is able to get up and get the daily things completed, even after taking medicine that knocks them out

These are just a few I’ve come up with, add your own in the comments of this blog.

However, we don’t think about the small things mother’s do because they are eclipsed by the big things.  However, if mother’s don’t do the small things, they are truly missed.

  • Makes popcorn on movie nights
  • Creates a fort or castle out of blankets
  • Attends every school function, recital, award ceremony, etc…
  • Cheers the loudest at ball games for their children
  • Makes funny voices when reading a book
  • Listens when their child is heart-broken
  • Gives advice when their child needs it
  • Kisses/hugs their children whenever their child feels sad, happy, upset, etc…
  • Becomes the princess at tea time with their daughter or princess to their sons knight
  • Thinks about their children when they are away from one another

Again, just a small list compared to how big it really is.  The love of a True Mother has healing capabilities that no one fully understands.  If you have one of these mother’s, you are truly blessed!  Tell her how much you love and appreciate her this Mother’s Day, because sometimes we forget how much she loves us.  If you’re one of these mothers, THANK YOU!!!  The world needs more of you.

So Happy Mother’s Day to all of you

Holiday MANIC!!!

Well, I let it happen.  I became part of the Holiday Manic.  You know that period of the year where you can’t do anything else except cook, visit with family and shop?  It usually starts around Thanksgiving and ends about a week after the first of the year.  Yes, even I let it happen to me.  It’s been a long few months and I have really missed my writing.  I have let it slip away for a while but I am ready to get back on the horse, so to speak.  So stay tuned for reviews and random thoughts, because here they come!!!!!

Have you ever….-Part 1

Have you ever felt like you were in the middle of a fight that was not your fight to begin with?  When you never even wanted to be in the middle in the first place?  Like you come upon a conversation and you are the only one that knows that you just arrived.  The others treat you as if you have always been there.  In the MIDDLE!  How can a person get out of this situation?  How can they bow out without making any of the others feel hurt or upset?  It’s not that we don’t care about the situation, it’s that it is not something that we feel the need to discuss.  It is something that we are not wanting to be in the middle of.  And then, you become part of the disagreement without even knowing it.  You are the one that apparently is wrong when it was never your fight.  Come on, I know I can’t be the only one out there.  I know that others have been in this same predicament.  Let me know you feel, help me to know I am not alone in this.

Yeah, this is random, but this is what I feel like blogging about.  This is what is on my mind tonight.  Thinking (and praying) of a way to get out of the fight.  Before anyone gets emotionally hurt.

Just to Clarify!!

I am a very diverse person.  From what I read to what I watch to where I visit.  I like a good romance comedy movie as well as YA fantasy books.  I love to go to a big city such as NYC and visit the tropical beaches of Hawaii.  I am not just a one track lady.  So the reviews I have are a variety.  Many different genre’s in movies and books.  A complete array of different locations to travel.  So I hope you enjoy the reviews I post.  If you don’t like a particular genre that I am reviewing, check it out anyway.  You might discover you have the same passion as I do, experiencing different things.  So ENJOY!

On the last post I wrote, I received some very good advice.  I really, truly love to write.  It is an outlet that helps express emotions that are almost impossible to speak.  Who would talk like some of the things you read in the books? Not many people.  But it is wonderful to read the words that others dream and create.  That is what I am hoping to do, be that writer that others see as a story teller.  A writer who can take you from the beginning of a scene to the end with you hanging on to every word just to feel the emotion that is written.

So I took the advice.  The advice to just write about anything, everything.  I kept sitting at my desk, in front of my laptop, waiting for inspiration to hit me.  While I sat, I looked around my office and then I saw what has always been there.  A picture.  A simple picture with simple strokes of color.  But the picture started to speak, it started to tell me a story.  A story that not many people will sit quietly enough to hear.  But I heard it because the inspiration in my head was silent at the moment.  That’s when I started to write.  To write the words the picture told me.  I wrote 3 paragraphs, the beginning of a story that is beautiful and tragic.

Once I finished with what the picture wanted to say for the time being, I read it out loud to my mother in law.  And if you knew my mother in law, she doesn’t give compliments that are undeserving.  So when she told me that she would read that book (she DOES NOT read–laugh–), I was ecstatic.  Of course it made me want to write more, but the picture has stayed silent.  I am hoping it finishes telling me it’s secrets because I am ready to listen to its’ quiet voice.

It’s been rough…

Hello All—  Sorry I’ve been away for so long.  I went to a Writers Conference this past weekend.  To put it plainly, it did more to discourage me than encourage me.  I don’t know if that is the reason I haven’t bothered writing or the creative juices haven’t been there.  Either way, it’s been rough.  Going one week without being able to write a single line to a writer is like being in a desert without a drink of water for one day.  I am thirsting for those creative juices.  I need them.  Reading helps, it always does but there is something about writing that helps relieve a pressure in my head that I never knew was there.  It is like taking a breath of clean mountain air after a rainstorm.

It hasn’t helped that I have been under the weather.  I need some inspiration.  Any suggestions from those out there that loves to write or just loves to read would be great.  This is the shortest blog I have done, it is a testament to the reason for it.  So comment with some suggestions–I need to write!
